Protection & Control Engineer – St. John's, NL
Introduction
Dovre Group is pleased to offer the following opportunity: Protection & Control Engineer in St. John’s, NL. Regular travel to worksites across NL required.
Function
Up to two (2) P&C Engineers are required to supplement the client’s project team in completing a variety of capital project P&C work scopes relating to replacement of protective relays (transformer, bus, line, and generator protection), replacement of disconnect switches and circuit breakers, replacement of circuit breaker recloser controllers, installation of breaker failure protection, and switchgear design, as well as installation of other terminal station and generating station systems and equipment as required. The work shall include such items as:
- site investigations for P&C design packages
- preparation of P&C detailed design drawings
- preparation and/or checking of protective relay and other P&C device settings
(reclosers, sectionalizers, fuses, etc.) - detailed checking and sign-off of P&C detailed design drawings prepared by other
engineers - review of vendor submitted P&C drawings
- development of commissioning documents
- specification and selection of P&C equipment
- P&C procurement preparation and support including materials management
- construction and commissioning support (both on site and remote)
- other tasks as assigned in relation to P&C engineering
Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Electrical) with a minimum of 12 years of relevant P&C
engineering work experience with/for an electric utility - Registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of
Newfoundland and Labrador - Experience in preparing P&C specifications, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Experience in preparing protective relay settings and protective relay coordination
- Effective written and verbal skills
- Travel to work sites across NL is required to collect field information for designs and to support
construction and commissioning efforts.
